Dan Schlanger - Producer

DPIís founder Dan Schlanger, a highly accomplished and experienced producer, brings 25 years of successful film production and entrepreneurial experience to the company. Danís track record as producer spans a wide range of filmmaking genres with remarkable results.

Danís last production, Death in the forest was broadcasted with a remarkable success on Global TV and The life and times of Arthur Erickson, another documentary produced by Dan,† (directed by Gordon McLennan), won the Gold Medal at the New York International Film Festivals in 2005. The Directors Guild of Canada nominated Dan in the same year for the "Outstanding Team Achievement in a TV Series for Robson Arms, and he shared a LEO Award nomination with Academy-Award nominee David Paperny, for producing the one-hour documentary Transplant Tourism. The performing arts program Cantata for the king for CBCís "Opening Night" series is one of Danís latest productions.

Dan is currently shooting The cave, a feature length documentary for National Geographic International and the TV movie Salam Aleikum for the German network ZDF, in partnership with Dreamer Joint Venture from Berlin.
Dan also produced the TV drama 49th and Main for CBC, the performing arts documentary Life and times of Evelyn Hart and the award wining short drama THE BAR, starring Peter DeLuise. Together with producer Howard Dancyger, they are developing the feature film Ė Undead Inc. based on an original script by Ian Weir and a new feature film Come clean based on the novel with the same title by John Parker having Andrew McAvoy as the screenwriter.

Active in the political side of the entertainment industry, Dan was the co-chair of the British Columbia chapter of DOC: The Documentary Organization of Canada. He also contributes to the education of the next generation of filmmakers by teaching master classes and seminars.

A constant presence at international film festivals and markets, Dan is actively pursuing co-production possibilities in order to expand the artistic and financing potential of his projects.
