Howard Dancyger, L.L.B. - Producer
Howard's first foray into the film industry was from 1986 to 1989. During this time he worked as an assistant director and assistant locations manager on numerous television series and feature films in Toronto. Wanting to strike out on his own, in 1989 he produced, directed, and co-wrote his own short film Lend Me Your Ear which appeared in the Montreal Film Festival and won a Certificate of Merit at the Chicago Film Festival .
In order to further his skills Howard entered Law School at the University of Toronto, graduating in 1991, and went into private practice in Vancouver, B.C. In 1994 he joined Ark Films Inc., where he worked as a Producer and Production Executive. In addition to the projects on which he was a producer, he also gained valuable experience in acquiring properties for the company and participating in the development process from a business as well as creative point of view.
In addition to the numerous projects in development, in 1995 he was Associate Producer on the feature film Once in a Blue Moon and in 1997, Producer of the Two Hour Special Scams, Schemes, & Scoundrels for the A&E Network.
Howard left Ark Films Inc. in the summer of 1997 to work on his own. To that end he founded Ghost Films Inc.. He has developed and/or produced a number of dramatic television, feature film, and documentary programs for such broadcasters as CTV, CBC, City TV, Vision T.V.,and The Learning Channel.
Most recently he has delivered the feature film The Burial Society which was released theatrically in January 2003. He is one of the producers and line producer of the CBC dramatic series Edgemont which is now in its fifth season.
He is also currently one of the producers of the feature film Bleeding , a Canada/UK co-production in pre-prep.
He also produces and production manages numerous commercials.
